Confidential Care and Appointments

BWell Health Promotion is an essential part of the integrated care model in Brown Student Health & Wellness.

Having ... support is wonderful – I am constantly impressed (and helped) by the professionalism, empathy, and insight of the [staff]. I appreciate how I am always offered support in accessing an array of resources without dictating which ones I should use.

Appointment Types

BWell provides confidential*, non-judgemental care in an empowering environment. Brown students can make appointments with BWell Health Promotion staff to address a range of health and wellbeing needs.

Help after sexual harm appointments are confidential advocacy-based counseling for healing, accommodations and accountability options regarding sexual, gender and relationship harm.

Sexual health appointments are confidential educational opportunities to discuss questions and concerns related to sexual health, partner communication, safer sex, or related topics, and to get information and referrals. These are not medical appointments.

  • One on one conversations about sexual health.
  • Personalized information, resources and referrals for sexual wellbeing.
  • Not a medical service - no testing or prescriptions are available.

For Medical Advice

For Medical Appointments

At Health Services, including STI testing and contraception, please call 401-863-3953.

Substance use appointments (alcohol and other drugs) are confidential appointments where a Health Educator and the student collaborate to develop a schema about the effects of their substance use. These conversations can be a powerful tool in helping to make informed decisions, reduce harm, prevent relapse or connect with additional resources.

  • Educational empowerment for behavior change based on intrinsic motivations.
  • Review of harm reduction strategies and resources.
  • Recommendations and referrals for comprehensive care.

BWell SHARE Advocates hold support groups for student survivors each semester. Questions about support groups? Email bwell@health.brown.edu.
